Welcome to Boat Bug Out. If you’re reading this, like me,
you’ve probably come to the conclusion that it’s not a matter if “if” but
“when” it will become necessary to get yourself and your loved ones quickly away
to a safe location. Maybe you’ve already considered bugging-out in a
survival-prepared boat stocked with food, a generator, a water-maker and the
ability to escape from any kind of danger. Perhaps you’ve taken steps to locate
and fit-out such a vessel, or are a liveaboard boat owner already well into the
process. What we all have in common is knowing preparedeness is a mindset and a
series of decisions leading to actions, not a single event.
In this space, I’ll address topics for wherever you are in
the process. I’ll explain how to select your boat, what equipment you will need
aboard and the essential training you will need to become self-sufficient as
well as what to consider in selecting your safe location. Some of the topics
I’ll write about in the near future are: Equipment: water-maker / GPS / generator / inverter ; Training: Swimming / Seamanship / Diesel Mechanics /
Navigation / Electronics / Knots / Fishing; Types of Boats; Hull
Materials; Types of Engines; Sources
of Boats; and Communications.
I’d also like to hear from you about your own experiences,
and suggestions for topics on this subject you’d like to explore. Please leave
